Our Story

It all started as a gift for my brother – a personal project collecting stories and multimedia of his life. That was ten years ago. Then came classes in Knowledge Management at IBM and at the Center for Digital Storytelling in Berkley. From there came a realization: that the difference between telling someone how to do something and sharing how you did it, makes all the difference in the world. One is advice, the other is a story.

StoryQuest doesn’t tell stories in the scripted sense. Instead, we edit and empower stories the of others into customer references, content marketing and lead generation tools. Over the years we have been joined by experts in journalism, technology, and content creation. Today we have an international team of developers, marketers and producers with a passion for capturing stories from all over the globe. When the real world stories and platforms we capture drive marketing efforts and speed up sales, it makes us smile.

    Story Harvesting

    The StoryQuest harvesting process is simple for our clients, and therefore easy for their customers. We ask for a minimum of time and effort:

    • One Interview in person or over the phone
    • One Photo Shoot in their office

    On the front end we help you with customer selection, communication, and preparation. We supply templates and tools to educate stakeholders and customers. Once all of the arrangements have been made, we interview customers and record their stories. A few days later, a very specific set of photos are taken of the storyteller in their office and work setting. The key is to help each storyteller feel safe and comfortable. Unlike text, the sound of their voice matters: The passion, pause, and turn of phrase of storytellers are as important as the story. All recording is done with the latest digital recording tools.

    Our interviews are comfortable and casual conversations. We are experts who capture authentic voices — real-life stories that are shared with anecdotes, results, personal perspectives, and even humor.

    Production and Enablement

    Nothing is more powerful than the sound of an honest voice.

    This is a belief on which we have built our business. Each story is produced with specific attention to creating tight narratives and conveying honest voices. Storyboarding, editing, and focusing develops the narratives, ensures brevity, and expands a single story into many: the business-problem story, the selecting-a-solution story, the story of results. Each segment of the larger story is produced as a stand-alone piece. This segmentation simplifies usage, allows for repurposing, and even supports leveraging stories for mobile use.

    The first draft goes to you. With your feedback, edits are made. You, the customer, get to review, suggest edits, and approve the final story.

    Finally, each story is produced into online, offline, and mobile assets. Having the story is just the start. Now stories need to be shared in as many ways as possible.

Our Team

Tim, Adam, Jan, Carola, Gabrio and others make up an international staff of leaders and producers.

Our producers interview and produce stories in many languages. With extensive backgrounds in documentary, NPR, and BBC-type production, our producers understand narrative structure and how to capture not only a compelling story, but the sound of an honest voice.

As part of our global network of professionals, our photographers combine their local perspectives and expertise with StoryQuest’s production standards to deliver consistent, high-quality images.
